Escape 1800

Yes this stove is the Real Deal! Obviously Canada has wood stoves figured out ! This wood burning stove burns everything to complete ash. Easy to start a fire and burns great? Seems very efficient. So much better made than other stoves we researched. Its heavy ! Quality made and looks like it. It heats our 2 story 1300 square foot Log home perfectly. I Highly recommend this wood burning stove. Value,quality,efficiency.. In the Colorado Mountains at 9000 feet it works Awesome’

Drolet 1800

After having to retire a Vermont Casting stove for over 25 years, I purchased the Drolet Escape 1800 in the Fall of '21. Running my stove 24/7 from November through April, I wanted a stove that I could load up to burn through the night. I was impressed with the ease of loading large pieces of wood, which is a nice feature, and the large front glass. However, the design for cleaning out the stove is not very efficient. It comes with a large "plug" at the bottom that is quite cumbersome to push the ash without losing many embers. I have to resort to "sifting" through the embers with a small shovel and hand-cleaning the stove every couple of days. The burn time is not what I am used to, but it does produce a significant amount of heat. For the price, I am very happy, but because of the design as it relates to cleaning the stove, I am not sure I would purchase it again.

Pros

Ease of loading. Accommodates large pieces of wood.

Cons

CLEANING! Not a very efficient design. Have to allow fire to die down quite a bit to clean the ash.

Very fast delivery

Stove came in in just a few days. It came in very protected , took longer to uncrate that to get it in the house. Looks to be made well, no marks, scratches, dents or any blemishes what so ever. Have not used as I am still preparing to install.
