This is a chimney cap and damper combo kit by Lock-Top II. The base on this chimney cap is 8 in. x 8 in., and arrives fully assembled. This combo is constructed with stainless steel and cast aluminum, giving it long-lasting strength and durability. The cap is covered with 3/4 in. stainless steel mesh to keep small pests, and debris out of your chimney. This combo kit includes sweeps ring, silicone sealant, 30 ft. stainless steel cable, and all the hardware-and allows you to take control of your flue system and energy bills-because now you control the damper.
Please Note: Do not use dampers with gas logs. Failure to open could cause carbon monoxide to back up into your home. In case of a gas leak, gases could become trapped in the flue, resulting in an explosion

Is the Lock-Top II easily removable so that the chimney can be cleaned?
This cap includes a sweeps ring, which is an adapter that is mounted to the chimney flue, then allowing the cap to screw to the ring. When cleaning is required, the cap can be quickly unscrewed from the ring and set aside.

Can these be used if you have a gas log set?
It is not recommended to use this damper cap with a gas log set. This is a result of safety concerns. Top-mounted dampers are easy to forget about and if the log set is operated with the damper closed, harmful byproducts can back up into the home.

Eliminates Drafts
If you are looking for a product that is able to function properly and live up to all of the promises as they are listed, then this item is just what you need to buy! Prior to installing it on our fireplace, we frequently had issues with drafts, all of which made our home uncomfortable. Once this was put in place, what amazed me is that all of the previous issues that we had with drafts immediately went away. Additionally, our heating bill literally plummeted.

Best Product I've Come Across
I have been in the business of construction for over twenty years, and this product is simply the best product out there of its kind. What was particularly impressive to me was the ease of installing it. Even more remarkable is how seamlessly the damper and handle are able to operate with one another. Probably the most amazing thing I found with regards to this unit is the price tag; in making the decision to purchase this product instead of other ones, I was able to save several hundred dollars and come away with a much better product.

As Anticipated
I am quite thrilled overall with the quality of this product and the significant improvement it has given to my home as a result. This item arrived just as it had been described to me, and the installation was easy despite the fact that some of the instructions were not altogether clear. Our current home is a little unusual in that we actually live in an old farmhouse. Because of its design, it was quite easy to feel the drafts as they would come down our fireplace and into our home. However, once we had installed this product, we were able to notice a huge difference. Gone were the drafts that made our home very uncomfortable. Best of all, the heat was very easy to retain, keeping the house a comfortable temperature at all times.
